The Kid Mero, Skinny Friedman and DJ Ayres talk Billy Joel, Gudda Gudda carrying your groceries, retarded karate on the bus, shrooming at the Bronx Zoo, Dominican moonshine, TI’s wife, juggalo hacids and more. Look out for Skinny & Mero’s Best of 2012 mix dropping on Vice’s Noisey blog later this week.

Close your eyes and picture the cast of Hee-Haw at a massive rave – “Good People” is the soundtrack, a rollicking banjo banger. This release marks the second outing on T&A for both the Smalltown DJs and Grandtheft, following up Loving The Vibe and Gangsta Musik / Splash, respectively. Early support from Soggy Bottom Boys, the Duke Brothers, Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel, Barney Fife and Jeff Foxworthy.
The Good People EP comes out on January 8, 2013, with remixes from XXXChange and Nacey. XXXChange’s remix is hard as fuck, while Nacey’s is deeper and more melodic. The B-side, Stuck Here, is a tech-house floor-filler with an equally irresistible hook. The Good People tour is currently rampaging across Canada.
Smalltown DJs & Grandtheft – Good People Full EP coming January 8.
Nick Catchdubs, Jubilee and Sammy Bananas sit down with DJ Ayres at the Fool’s Gold headquarters and discuss Robocop, taking the elevator on the sabbath, music journalism and bitchass-ness, JNCOs, AID5MAU5, Crookers and crab snooker. Then Ayres farts into the microphone to sign off.

The Rub schedule is a little different in December. We’re doubling up for the holidays: our annual holiday party is on Saturday, December 15th, then we are taking a break from the last Saturday (the 29th) so we can put everything into our NYE party (the 31st, obviously). Both the holiday party and the NYE party will be at The Bell House. And tonight I’m at the Fool’s Gold headquarters with a bunch of friends and free booze to get people on board with DJs for Climate Change.

Tonight (12/5) we’re hosting an event in the Fool’s Gold store for DJs Against Climate Change, the non profit organization founded by Sammy Bananas. Now entering it’s 5th year of helping DJs offset the environmentally damaging carbon emissions produced from their airplane travel, the DJACC uses artists’ cultural influence to show how everyone can take responsibility for their impact on Climate Change.
Find out more (and donate!) at indiegogo.com/DJACC, and come thru the store this Wednesday, where Sammy will break down ways to combat climate change in person while Nick Catchdubs, Star Eyes (Trouble & Bass) and DJ Ayres (The Rub) play tunes from 6-9pm. We’ll also have complimentary refreshments from our friends at Bushmills. Hang and learn!
